Mr. BATHING APE Perfects the Camo Three-Piece in FW16 and Ape’s SS17 Collection

In the past, a camouflage print suit would have ranked among the biggest faux-pas in fashion imaginable. But that was before the initial line from Mr. BATHING APE, the diffusion menswear line from BAPE geared towards the more sartorial streetwear. Its last collection was one that made no doubts about being geared toward the modern-day dandy with the prominence of a mustache print. The brand has continued in this vein with the brand new FW16 collection, one that truly keeps the dandy game going strong.

The mentioned mustache print is again a staple of this collection, appearing across brittle button-up shirts and more subtly on a series of ties and bowties. The trademark BAPE camouflage is present on shirts short-sleeve and long-sleeve, while the logo’s ape figure is basted on a long-sleeve T-shirt and is elsewhere embossed in gold.

A seasonal contribution like a three-piece suit, thick jackets with camouflage lapels and heavy-duty winter vests round out the collection. And in keeping with the colder months, this season has moved away from the brighter colors of seasons past and is dominated by cool grays and icy blues.

Stay tuned for the Mr. BATHING APE FW16 collection to appear on the brand's online store.

It’s been an insanely busy couple of weeks for Japanese streetwear kingpin BAPE, having teased images from its upcoming collection with Neighborhood on top of SS17 men and women’s variety. Now, a lookbook from brand twig Mr. Bathing Ape’s upcoming Spring/Summer collection has been released, once again proving that swag is indeed for boys and class is for men.

While all the usual camo BAPE pattern are accounted for, subtle shades and colorways are utilized for a less ostentatious look. Blue and black features stiffly on key pieces, including a bomber jacket and a polo shirt, while the classic shirt and coach jacket feature tonal BAPE ape embroidery. For ultimate office flex, a gray suit and tie round off the small capsule.
If you’re in the market for some dapper garb, look out for the range coming to select BAPE locations starting January 21.
