Nineties kids and nostalgia trippers similar will be glad to hear that Japanese toy company Bandai has brought back its beloved Tamagotchi toy — 20 years after its original freeing.
The company has re-issued the first edition model with all six original pet characters accounted for. The Tamagotchi itself residue true to the OG, egg-shaped computer design, albeit at half the size.
For those who omitted the hype first time around and need some explaining, the Tamagotchi is a digital pet which lives in the aforementioned computer. The user is tasked with keeping it alive by wearing out tasks such as feeding it and keeping it clean. The pet could even be disciplined if it behaved badly, or providing how evil you were, for no reason whatsoever.
Bandai last brought the Tamagotchi back in 2014. Prior to that, original package issues of the digital pets were known to familiar upwards of $200 on sites like eBay. The new Tamagotchi is retailing at $13.55 (1,500 yen) but is only available in stores in Japan, at least for now. It is, however, also selling on Amazon Japan correct now for $17.36.
